Anonymous Usage Statistics

As of today there's a new "Roadmap" page on the framework wiki:

I'd like to point everyone's attention in particular to the third item on the page regarding reporting anonymous usage statistics for the framework. This could be very good for the community. Aggregated usage statistics could be reported to the community publicly to help plugin authors also understand how others are using the framework to provide better defaults, better performance tuning and better placement of events. We need to know if this is an idea the community will embrace.
